Help with Purchasing Auctions

A few little pointers to help you along your way...

As a supplier you have to be invited to a auction. Our auctions aren't open to everybody. If you have received an invite, and accepted but are still having trouble accessing it, make sure your account is verified and your company details have been entered. We need to know who you are before we can let you take part in an auction, and we also need to verify your email to make sure your details are correct, and that you won't miss out on any communication regarding the auction.
Software as a service (SaaS, pronounced sɑs), sometimes referred to as "on-demand software" is a software delivery model in which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. SaaS is typically accessed by users via a web browser.
A reverse auction (also called procurement auction, e-auction, sourcing event, e-sourcing) is a tool used in business-to-business procurement. In this process, the role of the buyer and seller is reversed, with the primary objective to compete purchase prices downwards. In an ordinary auction (also known as a forward auction), buyers compete to obtain a product or service. In a reverse auction, sellers compete to obtain business. Read more about reverse auctions.
Unlike a regular auction where an item is offered for sale and interested parties bid on that item, reverse auctions bring mutual benefits to both buyer and supplier. In a reverse auction, the buyer will submit an item – or list of items – they require and other information such as timescales, delivery location etc and suppliers may bid on this list. By offering a fully qualified and genuine sales lead, coupled with a high degree of transparency on their competitor pricing, the suppliers are able to offer their best prices for the services required. The buyer benefits from the best price for their needs and the supplier easily and quickly wins highly valuable new business.
Our pricing has been developed to offer great value for money, irrespective of the estimated auction value. We have a package to suit every budget and procurement need. For more information on our pricing, contact us.
Anything can be auctioned through our platform (subject to being legal, of course). We have auctioned everything from stationery and office supplies to a fleet of vehicles, to personal protective equipment (PPE) and even raw materials! Reverse Auctions work best where products – rather than services or consultancies – are required as there is less ambiguity in the specification. Items of any value may be auctioned; our lowest value auction to date was £1000 and our highest was over £30million.
We do recommend collating your auction requirements into similar categories to allow the most relevant suppliers the ability to offer their best prices.
When initiating their auction, the buyer must select the duration of their auction. Depending on complexity, list of requirements or other factors, the auction process could be as short as 30 minutes or as long as two weeks.
We help suppliers sell faster and we bring genuine, high value customers direct to you. By registering your business on our website you will immediately get access to a variety of new, high value, qualified sales leads and any new instructions will be sent directly to your inbox. We auctioned over £120million of products through the website last year alone and opened up new markets for many of our registered suppliers.
Yes. The auction process is completely secure and no non-relevant company or personal details will be provided to either buyer or supplier prior to the auction completion. The auction is completely transparent and a full audit trail is provided on completion. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff are on hand to offer support and to answer any questions should they arise during the auction process.
The Purchasing Auctions reverse auction process has been developed to be as intuitive and user-friendly as possible. There is no training required and everything you need to set up an auction will be provided to you on registration. Our team are always on hand to offer support and to answer questions should they arise during or prior to an auction taking place. We do offer a fully managed auction process for complex and/or high value auctions where a dedicated team member will be assigned to you to help you get the most out of the process.
The audit process tracks all bids as they are submitted to the auction by suppliers. It also places a requirement on each participating supplier at the end of the auction to upload the appropriate pricing data to validate their best bid offering at auction. This data is useful for supplier selection and contract negotiations, as well as producing a definitive auction result.
